Death to America! Death to the West!

If you’re like me, those phrases kind of bother you when you hear them repeated by large, angry crowds in the Middle East. Not that I expect them to chant about how much they love us, it’s just that I’d prefer not to be mentioned at all. I mean, do they have any idea how these things are received on Main Street U.S.A.?
Actually, this stuff works both ways. The video below is not new. If you’ve seen it before, try to watch it again through the eyes of a young, educated Persian (of which there are many in a country with 60% of its population under the age of 35). This is one of our presidential candidates singing “Bomb, bomb, Iran” to the tune of the Beach Boys’ “Barbara Ann” when asked what he would do about the current rift over Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Seriously, this is tacky and just a little too casual for me when we’re dealing with the subject of nukes.
Why didn’t he just chant “Death to Iran! Death to the Persians!”? I’ll bet that’s exactly how it was presented to the general population by the regime in Tehran. Nice job, John.

At least McCain was kidding…
They blow up their crude oil deposits after we blast them. How can the possibly have hope for people that are forced to belive in hate. The USA should deal them a death blow on the grounds they declared war on the USA. Then strike them from all sides.
