Al Gore is a Hypocrite

April 30, 2008

al-gore-hypocrite.jpgThis two part post on Al Gore was written by Kenza, a Dominican-Canadian student, writer, animal rights activist, and devout vegetarian.

Ever since the release of An Inconvenient Truth in January 2006, Al Gore has been hailed by many as a true environmental activist. After seeing AIT, I also thought so. The documentary was eye-opening and, apart from the interruptions where Gore spoke of his inconvenient political truth, interesting. However, if you do a little research, you’ll find Al Gore is better at telling other people what to do than he is at doing it himself. Read more

The Vatican Needs a Makeover

April 29, 2008

pope-john-paulApril 2nd marked three years since the passing on Pope John Paul II and this past week marked the first visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the United States - two Popes with drastically different images. You’ve read my criticism of Benedict, so I won’t repeat myself here. Instead, I’ll tell you why my memories of John Paul II are so different. Read more

How to Improve Foreign Policy

April 28, 2008

jimmy-carterAs former President Jimmy Carter and Secretary of State Condi Rice continue to spar over Carter’s recent meetings with Hamas’ leaders in the Middle East, one thing is for sure – the U.S. needs radical change in its foreign policy.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of Carter. I remember the “national malaise” of which he so famously spoke, and waiting with my father in long, long gas lines. As a President, he was pretty much useless. However, I’m not so quick to condemn his overseas trips and apparent “snuggling” with those who wish to see our demise. On the contrary, he may actually make himself useful. Read more

What Americans Care About – Part III of III

April 25, 2008

wallmart-mercedes.jpg“You’re going to see a lot more luxury cars in Wal-Mart parking lots.”

Now we’re getting closer to what Americans care about. They won’t give up their expensive, gas-guzzling cars before they switch commodity brands. No more ultra soft, super absorbent, strawberry fragranced, premium Charmin toilet paper. They’ll drive the buggy to the Wal-Mart for the store brand. Read more

What Americans Care About – Part II of III

April 24, 2008

iraq-warIf the Iraq war doesn’t incite anger and action, what does? Oh, man, it must be those evil oil companies who are making more money than God and lining the pockets of Dick Cheney and every Republican in sight. This topic is a little closer to the answer, but still not spot-on. Here’s why. Read more

What Americans Care About – Part I of III

April 23, 2008

iraq-warIn this presidential election year, let’s get this out in the open right away: Americans aren’t particularly bothered about the Iraq War. Yes…you heard right. I mean, sure, there’s a war, and they mention it at times on the news (although, with the Barack/Hillary show in progress, I can’t recall seeing a piece on the war on TV in weeks.) Read more

Politicians are Elitists

April 22, 2008

“You’re out of touch, I’m out of time.” - Haul and Oates.

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton recently showed Pennsylvania voters just how “down” they are with regular folks by bowling, praising Jesus and, of course, drinking with rednecks. In addition, Hillary went out of her way to pump up her pro-gun rights positions and condemn Obama’s super-liberal anti-gun stances. When asked by a reporter when was the last time she’d fired a gun or went to church, Hillary said it was not relevant. Not relevant? She’s parading around the state labeling Obama an elitist when her own tax returns dwarf those of Bush and Cheney combined? Newsflash: Almost all of our politicians are elitists! Don’t believe me? Just ask any Senator and most U.S. Representatives the following questions: Read more

13 Things John McCain is Older Than

April 21, 2008

john-McCain-is-oldI’m guest blogging today over at The Chiri Chronicles. Stop by for a visit. I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time blogging about the Democratic side of the Presidential election. So, in the interest of fairness and, more importantly, me getting a day off from writing, I’ve asked a good friend of mine (McCain supporter) to guest blog and make a case for McCain for President. That’ll be out by the end of the week. By the way, we have no set rules as to why guest bloggers are selected. Send me an email if you’re ever interested. We highly encourage dissenting opinions and rebuttals to previous posts of mine. Read more

Daniel E. Williams and “The Naked Truth about Drugs”

April 17, 2008

daniel-e-williamsIn a recent post, I condemned the legions of “keyboard commandos” on the internet. In addition, I mentioned one of the perks of being a blogger – meeting interesting people. Daniel Williams, 2008 Presidential candidate for the Libertarian Party, falls squarely into that category. Daniel is also the author of “The Naked Truth about Drugs”, a copy of which he graciously sent to me. Here’s a quick review. Comments and criticism are welcome. By the way, he’s the naked guy in the photo. Read more
