It’s the BIG ONE!!
July 10, 2008
Some days it is just too damn hot to write; today is one of those days (I’m surprised Randall doesn’t use this as an excuse more often given that he lives in the DR and I live in Maine.) Anyway, as I was surfing around today I came across the following news bulletin from the Associated Press. Read more
Oliver Stone is Planning a Film about George Bush.
June 9, 2008
According to The Daily Variety’s Michael Fleming, Oliver Stone is planning a film about George Bush.
During the interview, according to Fleming, “Stone declined to give his personal opinion of the president”.
“I can’t give you that, because the filmmaker has to hide in the work,” Stone said. “Here, I’m the referee, and I want a fair, true portrait of the man. How did Bush go from an alcoholic bum to the most powerful figure in the world? It’s like Frank Capra territory on one hand, but I’ll also cover the demons in his private life, his bouts with his dad and his conversion to Christianity, which explains a lot of where he is coming from. It includes his belief that God personally chose him to be president of the United States, and his coming into his own with the stunning, preemptive attack on Iraq. It will contain surprises for Bush supporters and his detractors.” Read more

A fitting joke after our Amnesty post!
January 10, 2008
“This year, the immigration and naturalization service has raised their fee to become a U.S. citizen. How much do you think it costs to become a U.S. citizen? It’s about $700. … It now costs $700 to become a U.S. citizen. In fact, you know how much immigration and naturalization expects to make this year on people becoming U.S. citizens? Over $1,400″ –Jay Leno

Hillary Clinton: “We are going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”
A Little Humor at Hillary’s Expense
January 7, 2008
I recently received this joke and it struck me as particulary funny and relevant as I’m recently retired.
Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting. Well, for example, the other day I went downtown and into a shop. I was only there for about 5 minutes, and when I came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket.
I said to him, “Come on, man, how about giving a retired person a break”? He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. I called him a “Nazi.” He glared at me and wrote another ticket for having worn tires. So I called him a “doughnut eating Gestapo.” He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he wrote a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him the more tickets he wrote.
Personally, I didn’t care. I came downtown on the bus, and the car that he was putting the tickets on had a bumper sticker that said, “Hillary in ‘08.”
I try to have a little fun each day now that I’m retired. It’s important to my health.
